Employment Authorization Options for F-1 Students
If you are an F-1 student interested in learning more about on-campus employment, Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and Optional Practical Training (OPT), the OIS will offer in-person presentations on select Fridays during the Spring 2024 term. This is a great way to learn more about the basic qualifications and requirements for CPT, OPT and more!

Legal Permanent Residency (LPR) Information Session
This session is a prerequisite to apply for employment-based permanent residency with the University of Pittsburgh. Presenters will cover the main criteria for qualifying under EB-1B and EB-2 categories and how to document your qualifications. Topics covered will be:
- University and regulatory requirements for permanent residency sponsorship
- Processes and Timelines for EB1B and EB2 categories
- Required Evidence for each category
- Next steps to pursue permanent residency at Pitt
- Minimal information will be provided on other employment-based green card options
This session is open to current University of Pittsburgh employees only.

New Administrator Orientation
Department administrators who work to appointment and onboard international faculty and staff are invited to attend OIS’ Monthly New Administrator Orientation. The session is designed for new department administrators or anyone who needs a refresher on the following information:
- How to access/navigate My OIS
- Basics about visa acquisition
- About different visa types, how to choose
- Resources available to admins
- Q&A time
Sessions are typically held on the last Thursday of each month, with no registration required. Time allotted is one hour, with at least 20 minutes dedicated to Q&A time.
